This site is dedicated to the memory of Janene LeFrancois Pence.

Janene Pence of Fairfax, Virginia, bravely and gracefully took flight in the early morning of Friday, March 28. She joins her parents John and Shirley LeFrancois, her brother Jack, and her sister Janette Maxwell. For the moment she is parted from her adoring husband, John, her brothers, Art and Gordon, her children, Stephanie Hayes, Andrew Deller, and Eva Anderson, her five grandchildren, Ryan, Nik, Ben, Sam, and Jacob, the rest of her extensive family, and an even more extensive group of friends, all of whom she loves dearly and by whom she is loved completely. While among us Janene was an artist, a musician, a singer, a performer, a professional editor, a volunteer archaeologist, a member of the Potomac Harmony Chorus of Sweet Adelines International, and a member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax. Even in the hours before her flight she continued to reach out and show appreciation to every person in her presence, no matter how momentary their acquaintance, encouraging the light she saw shining within and acknowledging the purpose and meaning behind all they did. In those hours she was surrounded by family and friends, and she continued to laugh and sing and entertain her guests. “Just be Janene” was her mantra throughout her ordeal, and her parting words to us: “What a family!” A memorial service for Janene will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax in Oakton, VA. All are welcome to attend. For those wishing to make a contribution to honor Janene’s lifetime of giving to others, the family suggests a donation to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, The International Myeloma Foundation, or to the charity of your choice in Janene’s name.
