Janene was a terrific big sister. The eldest of five, she watched over all of us (including me, the youngest). She was heroic in her service to our mom, Shirley, as she (Shirley) was dying. And she was a constant joy and life-enhancer. I continue to hear her laughter, benefit from her wisdom, laugh at her keen and quick wit, and enjoy so many memories. She filled our house with her stirring renditions of Clair de Lune, the Gershwin Preludes, and much more. Janene made music even when she wasn't making music.
